body bling

I got some body bling yesterday.  I like the idea of a tattoo but I don't have anything that I want permanently on my skin.  Enter the henna tattoo.  I got a cool design that is gone in 2 weeks.  It only costs $10 and it took less than 45 minutes to do.  I'm thinking about having a henna party in the Fall.  If I can get at least 10 people to commit, the lady will come to my house.   How fun would that be?  Henna, snacks, movie?

she used medical tape to cover the henna paste as it dried

later that night when I removed the tape

the next day once the henna darkened

Ser jest dobre!

I had a cheese feast on Saturday.  Check it out

Bless Groupon.  We got $60 worth of cheese/deli items for $30!  How decadent.  Here's a rundown of what we got.

Delicious Truffle Mousse Pate
Camembert

St. Angel and Bierdeckel
the best buttery melt in your mouth St Angel
and the worst ca-ca smelling Bierdeckel
Pont Leveque
creamy and wax encased

Vintage 7 year Quebec Cheddar
strong and crumbles but not too much
Bruder Basil, smoked semi soft (yellow)
Fuet, hard, Catalan style salami/sausage (side)
Loukaniko Greek sausage (top middle, white label)

My favorite, hands down was the St. Angel.  It was fantastic, creamy, buttery...mmm.  It almost melted at room temperature.  I also liked the Bruder Basil.  The smokey flavor and semi soft texture reminded me of Munster or Monterrey Jack.  Honestly, I liked all the cheese except for the Bierdeckle.  Apparently it is washed in some German beer.  It's too funky and strong for me.  As for the sausages, I preferred the Greek one.  I like salami but in limited quantities.  Pepperoni would have been better.

Before  - Fuet (red), Camembert (white), 2 plates of crackers, pate (brown),
On the multi cheese plate (clockwise from the top)  - Bierdeckle (yellowish wedge),
Bruder Basil (rectangle), 7yr Quebec Cheddar (square), Pont Leveque, and St. Angel
I loved Arrowine.  They have a fantastic cheese selection but they are mainly a wine shop.  It was worth the trip to Virginia....

tool time

Today was another busy day.  My dad and I went to Baltimore to pick up a car part and I spent the rest of the day at the mechanic's shop.  I got the turn signal casing but on, recharged the ac and flushed the antifreeze.  FYI- I know that car places tell you to change the antifreeze and it seems like a scam but you really should do it.  After a while the antifreeze breaks down and becomes corrosive.  This can cause major engine problems.  Been there, done that.  I think this is one of those well kept car secrets.  Today I learned that there are several different colors of antifreeze and you should NOT mix them.  There are some that say for use with all colors so that one is fine to mix but not the others.  Antifreeze colors include: red, blue, yellow, green, orange and purple.  Could be a few more that I forgot.  The have different additives that react with different metals (that the engine is made of).  That's why you shouldn't randomly mix them.

new stuff

After weeks/months of chasing, my replacement bed will be here on Friday.  I picked up the pots that I ordered to my parent's house and I love them.  I got some necessary items at Ikea.  I'm going to reorganize my broom closet.  I should be organizing the stuff in the spare room but it seems too overwhelming.  I can do it but is very daunting.  Not sure why that is.
Enough of that...I'm going to watch something on tv.

Nail files

I'm having nail problems.  My fingernails are a hot mess.  3 of them have broken and several others are chipped.  Time to go to the salon.  To top it off, I had a nail in my tire.  Made the mistake of pulling it out and could hear the air hissing out.  Had to get the spare on but thank goodness I was not alone.  Tomorrow I'll be driving around getting it fixed and finally buying a new rim so I have a full sized spare.  I don't know what I do to tires but I sure do get my money's worth out of AAA.

On a happy note...made Thai green curry at home.  It came out beautifully!  Yummmy in my tummy.

Now I lay me down to sleep

I'm jumping through the mattress warranty hoops and it requires many phone calls.  I turned in my last paper and should have been contacted this week.  Today I called to follow up and the store told me to call corporate.  Corporate said, "the manager who would have received your claim has been having fax problems so we're going to call the store and have them resend the fax.  They will call you back.  I waited a bit and then I called the store back to see if everyone did what they said they would do.  SO far so good.  Still waiting to hear back.  This bed needs to be delivered while I'm still on vacation next week so I don't have to take time off.  Again and again I find myself wondering how people do it when they have to go to work.  I forgot to follow up and this has dragged out another week.  In the mean time, my dishes are unloaded and reloaded and I had a delicious cheese and tomato sandwich for lunch.  I also caught up on my TV shows.  I love vacation!

Tile of woe

I've been to every Home Depot near and far in search of these stupid backsplash tiles to no avail until I hit the jackpot yesterday.  I found 8 returned tiles in the HD right by my house!  I need 10 but 9 will work.  It was raining when I got home yesterday so I left them in the car.  I'll have to upload a pic later.

Brioche Glass Brick 12 in. x 12 in. Wall Tile

Here's a pic I found online.  The colors are a little washed out but it's pretty close.

Not sure what's on the agenda today.  My hair is in desperate shape so today might be my hair day even though it's gray and rainy.  I also need to hit IKEA.  This is a bad time for IKEA because all the college students are pouring into town and into IKEA.  I go in the early morning or late evening during the week so I miss the biggest crowds.
